Welcome to Allen, TX!
This Texas bedroom community 22 mi (35 km) north of Dallas, was named after the former attorney general of Texas, Ebenezer Allen. Part of the DFW Metroplex, Allen is one of the fastest growing communities in the Lone Star state yet also boasts a variety of notable historic attractions. It was the site of the first recorded train robbery back in 1878 by Sam Bass, a notorious Texas outlaw. The Allen Heritage Center offers driving tours, highlighting various historical points of interest. Built in 1874, the stone dam at Allen Station Park is the only one of its kind still standing in the US. The community is passionately athletic, and Allen is home to the largest outdoor skate park in Texas, the Edge at Allen Station Park, which is a popular social meeting spot for boarders of all ages. For sporting enthusiasts, the Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium boasts a 5,000-sq-ft (455 m) work out area and climbing wall. Temperatures in Allen may soar above 90º F (32 ºC) during the summer months, with cooler temperatures and ground frost from October to March.Tourist Attractions
